Find Out in a Minute Whether Your Tracking Still Runs Only in the Browser
Enter a website and this free server-side tracking checker looks for a server-side GTM container, a first-party script loader, a custom tracking subdomain, server-set cookies and Conversions API signals for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and other platforms. You get a maturity level from 1 to 4, the evidence behind it, and the next steps to recover the conversions that browsers and ad blockers hide.
Enter your website. The tool reads the page, opens your GTM container and watches the tracking requests the page sends.
The address you enter is sent to our server and to Google PageSpeed Insights, which load the page once. We keep a simple log of the address checked and the result. No personal details are saved unless you ask for the report by email.

I build server-side GTM on Stape and Google Cloud, with Meta, Google, TikTok and LinkedIn Conversions API, deduplication and Consent Mode v2, tested and documented.
Six kinds of evidence, read from the page code, the GTM container and a live page load.
A server_container_url or transport_url in your Google Tag, in the page code or inside your GTM container.
Whether the server endpoint is a subdomain of your site, which makes its cookies first-party.
Whether gtm.js or gtag.js loads from your own domain or a custom loader instead of googletagmanager.com.
Where GA4 hits really go during a live page load: straight to Google, or to your server first.
Tracking cookies such as FPID that arrive in the HTTP response, a sign that a server manages them.
Event IDs on Meta Pixel requests, enhanced conversions in Google Ads tags and other signs of a server connection.
Whether the server container runs on Stape, Google Cloud Run, App Engine or another host.
A plan matched to your level and your website platform.
Three steps, about a minute, no access to your accounts.
Paste your homepage or any landing page.
It reads the page source, opens the published GTM container and asks Google to load the page once and record its tracking requests.
You get a level from 1 to 4, the proof behind it, a platform-by-platform view and a step-by-step plan.
With normal tracking, every tag runs in the visitor’s browser and sends data straight to Google, Meta or TikTok. Server-side tracking sends the data to a server you control first, usually a server-side Google Tag Manager (sGTM) container, which then forwards it to each platform through its API, such as the Meta Conversions API.
Browsers and ad blockers limit browser tracking. Safari shortens cookies set by scripts, many blockers stop requests to known tracking domains, and iOS limits app tracking. A server on your own subdomain is not affected in the same way, so more conversions reach your ad platforms and your reported ROAS gets closer to the truth.
Everything shown is read from real sources: your page code, your published GTM container and the requests your page sends in a live test. Nothing is guessed. There is one honest limit: a server-side connection that is fed by webhooks, for example from Shopify, a CRM or Stripe, never touches the browser, so no outside tool can see it. When the checker says “not found” it means no visible signal, not proof that nothing exists. The final check is always inside each platform’s events manager.
If your server container lives on a different domain, such as a default hosting address, browsers treat its cookies as third-party. Mapping it to a subdomain of your own site, for example sgtm.yoursite.com, makes those cookies first-party and longer lasting.
What changes when events go through your own server.
| Browser-only | Server-side | |
|---|---|---|
| Ad blockers | Requests to tracking domains are often blocked | Requests go to your own subdomain |
| Safari and iOS | Script-set cookies cut to 7 days or less | Server-set cookies can last longer |
| Page speed | Every vendor script runs in the browser | Fewer scripts in the browser |
| Data control | Each vendor collects what it wants | You choose what each vendor receives |
| Deduplication | Not needed | Needs a shared event ID for pixel and API |
| Offline and CRM events | Cannot be sent | Can be sent from the server |
| Setup effort | Low | Higher, needs testing |

It looks for a server_container_url or transport_url in your page code and inside your published GTM container, checks where GA4 hits are sent during a live page load, looks for tag scripts loaded from a non-Google address, and reads tracking cookies set by the server.
Not directly. Conversions API traffic goes from a server to Meta and is invisible from outside. The tool looks for signs that usually come with it, such as an event ID on pixel requests for deduplication. To confirm, open Meta Events Manager and check that events show “Server” as a source.
Your setup may be fed by webhooks or an app, which leave no trace in the browser, or your tags may wait for consent and send nothing during the test. Check inside your ad platforms.
A way to load gtm.js or gtag.js from your own domain instead of googletagmanager.com, so fewer ad blockers stop it. On its own it does not make tracking server-side.
No. It only reads public information: the page, the published container file and the requests the page sends.
Level 3 means events reach a server container. Level 4 adds an endpoint on your own domain and visible server-side signals for advertising platforms.
Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Pinterest, Snapchat, X, Reddit and Klaviyo.
Set up a server-side GTM container on your own subdomain, route GA4 through it, then add Conversions API for the platforms you spend the most on. The Next Steps tab lists this for your site.
