Schema markup, or structured data, is a block of code that describes your page to search engines in a format they read reliably. A person sees a price and a star rating on a product page. Schema tells Google, in plain terms, “this is a product, it costs $36 and it is in stock”.
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends. It sits in a single <script> tag and does not change how the page looks.
Schema makes a page eligible for rich results. Google decides whether to show them, and no tool can guarantee it.
For each rich result, Google lists fields that are required and fields that are recommended. Miss a required field and the page is not eligible. This generator labels both and warns you before you copy the code.
Paste it into the <head> or anywhere in the <body> of the page it describes. In WordPress, use your SEO plugin’s schema setting or a custom HTML block. In Shopify, add it to the relevant theme template. Then test the live page.
Match the type to the page.

| Service page | Service | None, understanding only |
| About or author page | Person | None, supports author signals |
