Ad platforms learn about a sale when a small script in the buyer’s browser reports it. Anything that stops that script, or breaks the link between the ad click and the sale, makes a real conversion disappear from your reports. The sale still happened. Your ROAS just looks worse than it is, and the ad platform has less data to optimise with.
The calculator works out what share of real conversions stay visible after each cause, using the percentages you set, and divides your reported conversions by that share. If only 70% are visible and you see 200, the real figure is about 286. The low and high range repeats the sum with your settings 30% lower and 30% higher.
It is an estimate, not a measurement. The sliders start at round example values, not data about your website, and real losses vary a lot by country, device mix and industry. Treat the result as a guide to the size of the problem. To measure it properly, compare the conversions your ad platform reports with real orders or leads from your store or CRM for the same period.
With server-side tracking, your website sends events to a server on your own subdomain, which forwards them through each platform’s Conversions API. Requests to your own domain are blocked less often, and cookies set by your server are not cut to seven days. It does not recover visitors who declined consent, and it should not: their choice must be respected.
What the same campaign looks like with 30% of conversions hidden.

It is an estimate, not a measurement. It applies percentages you choose to your own figures. Real losses depend on your countries, devices and industry. Use it to judge the size of the problem.
They are round example starting values so the calculator shows something useful straight away. They are not measured data for your website. Replace them with your own numbers.
Your Safari and iOS share is in GA4 under Reports, Tech, Tech details. Your consent decline rate is in your consent banner’s dashboard. Ad blocker use is harder to measure: compare orders in your store with purchases in GA4 for the same period.
Safari limits cookies set by scripts to seven days, and to one day in some cases. A buyer who returns after that looks like a new visitor, so the sale is not linked to the ad.
No. It can recover much of the loss from ad blockers and short-lived cookies. It does not recover visitors who declined consent, and it should not.
Because budget decisions follow reported ROAS. A profitable campaign that looks unprofitable gets paused, and the ad platform’s algorithm optimises on incomplete data.
Compare conversions reported by the ad platform with real orders or CRM leads for the same dates and the same attribution rules. That comparison is the first step of a tracking audit.
