Stop Sending Visitors and Ad Clicks to Pages That Do Not Exist
Enter a page and this free broken link checker tests every link on it, and on up to ten more pages of your site, for 404 errors, dead links, server errors and redirects. It also checks images and flags link quality problems such as empty links, jump links with no target and insecure links, then gives you an Excel list of exactly what to fix and where.
Enter a page. Choose whether to check only that page or follow its links to more pages on your site.
The page address and the links found on it are sent to our server, which requests each one once. We keep a simple log of the address checked and the result. No personal details are saved unless you ask for the report by email.

A broken link, or dead link, is a link that leads to a page that no longer exists or a server that does not respond. The visitor sees a 404 error instead of what they wanted. Links break when pages are deleted or renamed, when a URL is mistyped, or when another website removes its content.
Links are read from the page’s source code. Links that JavaScript adds after the page loads, links behind a login and links inside embedded frames are not checked. One free check covers up to 250 unique links across up to 11 pages. For a full crawl of a large site, use a desktop crawler.
What each result from the checker means.
| Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 200 | The page loaded | Nothing |
| 301 / 308 | Moved permanently | Update internal links to the new address |
| 302 / 307 | Temporary redirect | Check it is still intended |
| 403 | Access refused | Usually a bot block. Open by hand |
| 404 | Page not found | Fix the link or redirect the old address |
| 410 | Page removed on purpose | Remove or replace the link |
| 429 | Too many requests | Bot protection. Open by hand |
| 500–599 | Server error | Fix your page, or tell the other site |
| No response | Server did not answer | The domain may be gone. Replace the link |

Read All ReviewsYes. Each check covers up to 250 unique links and 60 images across up to 11 pages, free, with no login.
It reads the links and images in your page’s source code and requests each one from our server, then groups the answers into broken, redirects, blocked and working.
Some websites refuse automated requests and return 403, 429 or 999. LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram are common examples. The link usually works for real visitors, so it is kept separate. Open it by hand to confirm.
It checks the page you enter and, if you choose, up to ten more pages linked from it. For a complete crawl of a large site, use a desktop crawler.
Yes. It tests up to 60 images in the page source and also flags images with no alt text.
A link such as #pricing that should scroll to a section. If no element on the page has that id, clicking it does nothing.
A redirect still works, but each one adds a small delay. For links between your own pages, point straight to the final address.
Links added by JavaScript after the page loads, links behind a login and links inside embedded frames are not in the page source, so they are not checked.
Correct the address if it was mistyped, point it to the page’s new location, or remove it. If your own page was deleted, add a 301 redirect from the old address to the best replacement.
